BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION: BRABUS has now crowned the godfather of off-roaders with this new supercar. Based on the current Mercedes-AMG G 63, the company created a high-performance off-roader with extravagant features built in a limited edition. The namesake of this unique off-roader is the new BRABUS ROCKET 900 V8 increased-displacement engine.
The 4.5-liter twin-turbo engine produces 662 kW / 900 hp (888 bhp) and a peak torque of 1,250 Nm (922 lb-ft). This powerplant gives the vehicle tipping the scales at 2,560 kilograms (5,640 lbs.) acceleration performance that few sports cars can match. The exclusive all-wheel drive car hits 100 km/h (62 mph) after just 3.7 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 280 km/h (174 mph).
However, the new BRABUS supercar fascinates not only with its enormous performance potential, but also with its vigorous looks. The BRABUS ROCKET EDITION widebody version with sporty carbon elements was developed especially for this special model. Also exclusively developed for this new model were special BRABUS Monoblock Z 24-inch hi-tech forged wheels that underscore the sporty aspirations of this automobile with BRABUS Aero Discs made of exposed carbon. They are fitted with extremely wide high-performance street tires up to size 355/25 ZR 24 on the rear axle.
The BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION starts at 480,059 euros
Red elements around the bodywork and the wheels accentuate the sports SUV’s unique design. Special paint finishes such as “Stealth Gray” shown here on the all-new BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION are also part of the portfolio of this limited small series. The second vehicle shown is painted “Signature Black.” The exceptional bespoke BRABUS MASTERPIECE interior in the finest black leather with color-contrasting as well as decorative stitching was also created especially for these vehicles. In addition to bucket seats and a center console with retractable tables in the rear, the interior also includes sporty carbon inlays and newly color-coordinated elements in the cockpit.

High-performance engines that combine performance and durability to maximum perfection have been the hallmark of all BRABUS supercars for more than four decades. With the new BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION, the Bottrop-based company, which holds the status of vehicle manufacturer with the German Federal Motor Transport Authority, presents a new top- of-the-line increased-displacement engine in the body of the Mercedes G-Class.
The namesake for this exclusive SUV is the BRABUS 900 ROCKET V8 twin-turbo increased- displacement engine, which is based on the powerplant of the G 63 and produces a massive increase in power by 231 kW / 315 hp (309 bhp) in comparison to it. The recipe for this is as elaborate as it is tried and true: More displacement produces more power. For this reason, the cylinder volume of the eight-cylinder, four-valve twin-turbo engine is increased from standard 3,982 cc to 4,407 cc (243 to 269 cu in) in the company’s own hi-tech engine shop.
This involves more than enlarging the cylinder bores to 84 (3.3 in) millimeters and installing appropriately sized forged pistons. A special precision-balanced billet crankshaft together with likewise forged high-performance connecting rods increases the stroke to exactly 100 millimeters (3.9 in).
The BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION consequently delivers the performance of a full-blooded sports car
The newly designed turbocharging system is just as crucial for the enormous increase in power. Two BRABUS special turbochargers with a larger compressor unit and a special core assembly with reinforced axial bearings produce a maximum boost pressure of 1.4 bar. Two BRABUS BoostXtra valves provide an exciting blow-off noise when lifting off the throttle.
Such a powerful engine also needs more air to breathe. To address this, a RAM-AIR intake system was integrated into the exposed carbon radiator grille. At the same time, the fuel supply was also adapted with special high-pressure pumps. The V8 receives a visual finishing touch with the BRABUS engine cover made of red carbon fiber.
The BRABUS ROCKET 900 increased-displacement engine also features larger downpipes with a diameter of 76 millimeters (3 in) and metal catalysts. The final link in the chain is the all- new BRABUS ROCKET stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with actively controlled exhaust valves for changing the exhaust note. Switching between a throaty V8 sound in Sport mode and a discreet whisper in “Coming Home” mode happens at the touch of a button on the center console. As has been the hallmark of a BRABUS sports exhaust system for the G-Model for decades, it again features two sidepipes exiting in front of the rear wheels on each side of the vehicle. For an extra sporty and unique appearance, they are framed by an exposed carbon trim with integrated ROCKET Launch Ambience Light.
The precise calibration of all high-performance components by the BRABUS powerplant engineers and electronics specialists is the result of extensive testing on test benches and the road. The professional execution of all work guarantees not only optimum power delivery, but also flawless durability. BRABUS recommends high-performance lubricants from MOTUL.
The enormous effort is reflected in unique performance figures: 662 kW / 900 hp (888 bhp) at a low 6,200 rpm is just as much benchmark in this vehicle category as is the enormous peak torque of 1,250 Nm (992 lb-ft), which is already on tap at 2,900 rpm. In the vehicle, this figure is electronically limited to 1,050 Nm (774 lb-ft).
The BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION consequently delivers the performance of a full-blooded sports car: From rest, the sports SUV weighing more than 2.5 tons shoots to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.7 seconds. The top speed is limited to 280 km/h (174 mph) to protect the tires.
The bodywork conversion makes the current Mercedes G-Model appear even more massive
Of course, this new BRABUS supercar fascinates not only with its high performance, but also with its extravagant looks. A new variant of the BRABUS WIDESTAR widebody version, which was developed especially for the BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION, adds decidedly sporty highlights with additional exposed carbon elements. On this special model, these include a front spoiler with side flaps on both sides and a radiator grille with integrated RAM-AIR intakes, ROCKET Startup Glow and an illuminated ROCKET logo. Also new are the carbon fiber trim elements for the WIDESTAR widebody fender flares on the front and rear axles, an emphatically sporty rear wing on the roof, and a diffuser for the BRABUS rear fascia.
The bodywork conversion makes the current G-Model appear even more massive and makes it ten centimeters (4 in) wider than the production car. The BRABUS WIDESTAR fascias at the front and rear, which replace the production bumpers, as well as customized elements that illuminate the rocker panels with LEDs in the dark, create perfect transitions to the flares. In keeping with the athletic design of this special model, the air intakes in the front fascia with integrated daytime running lights, the outlets on the rear of all flares, and the top piece for the hood and the trim panel on the rear door are made of carbon fiber with glossy coating. This hi- tech compound is also used on the side mirror housings, the trim strips and the door handles. A BRABUS Light Carpet in the underside of the running boards on both sides of the vehicle illuminates the ground in the dark for safe entry and exit.
Red key elements such as the two signature stripes in the radiator grille, the crosspieces with ROCKET emblem, the side spoiler flaps at the front and rear and the diffuser fins provide colorful contrasts and ensure the unmistakable BRABUS look.
Every supercar of the BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION impresses with its enormous performance and exclusive appearance
The WIDESTAR fender flares create space for BRABUS Monoblock Z “PLATINUM EDITION” alloy wheels with a diameter of 24 inches. They are manufactured using high-end forging technology and thus offer maximum strength. The ten-spoke rims for this supercar are painted black and feature red pinstriping on the outer flange. The BRABUS ROCKET 900 Aero Discs in exposed carbon complete the thrilling design.
Just as unique as the looks of this new wheel set specifically developed for this supercar are its dimensions: The front axle uses size 10Jx24 rims with 295/30 ZR 24 street tires. Under the rear fender flares is space for an even more extreme format: 12Jx24 with 355/25 ZR 24 tires.
To match the street tires, which are preferably supplied by the longstanding technology partners Continental, Pirelli or YOKOHAMA, the chassis engineers developed the new BRABUS RideControl aluminum coilover suspension specifically for this special model. The front-axle struts and rear-axle shock absorbers with integrated heat sinks are milled from solid stock. They allow the supercar to be lowered by up to a maximum of 45 millimeters (1.8 in). The damping can be adjusted with the standard Drive Select switch.
Every supercar of the BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION impresses with its enormous performance and exclusive appearance, which can be tailored to the customer’s preferences in terms of color as on the vehicle with “Stealth Gray” special paint finish shown here. But it doesn’t stop there. The interior was refined in every detail as well.
The BRABUS upholstery shop created a particularly elegant BRABUS MASTERPIECE interior for this supercar. The black leather design impresses with its perfect finish in every detail, with crest-shaped quilting applied with pinpoint precision on seats, trim elements and the footwells, which are likewise upholstered in leather. Highly precise, colored decorative topstitching adds intriguing contrast. On the supercar painted “Stealth Gray,” these and all the controls sport a finish matching the vehicle color. The topstitching in the BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION in “Signature Black” features red yarns. Furthermore, all 206 cockpit elements from switches to speaker covers and air vents as well as all trim and handles feature “ROCKET RED” glazing. Another option BRABUS offers is ambient lighting for the air vents.
The BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION is built in a limited edition of just 25 vehicles
High-gloss carbon trim in the cockpit emphasizes the sporty design of this special model, as do the aluminum pedals and door lock pins, as well as the stainless-steel scuff plates with backlit BRABUS logo, which can change color in sync with the ambient lighting. In keeping with its performance potential, the BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION is equipped with a speedometer with 300-km/h scale (186 mph).
In the rear, two bucket seats with numerous comfort functions such as multi-contour adjustment, memory and integrated seat ventilation and heating replace the bench seat. In between them sits the BRABUS center console, featuring the same fine leather and color contrasts to match the rest of the luxury interior. It serves as a comfortable armrest for passengers in the rear. What is more: the integrated retractable tables are just as perfect for working on a notebook or tablet as they are for reading a book, magazine or important files.
The 4.3-inch BRABUS Touch Control Panel embedded at the top, which in standby mode displays an analog clock with a BRABUS 900 illustration, can be used for more than just adjusting the seats. It also provides access to the standard COMAND system of the G-Class for turning the sound system up, down, or muting it from the rear. This device also controls the reading lights.
A powered USB multimedia interface integrated within easy reach at the top of the console provides the possibility to connect smartphones or tablets to the COMAND system and to charge them. Two cup holders cool or warm the drinks of the rear passengers. Another important feature of the console is a refrigerated compartment accessible from both seats.
To ensure that the rear-seat passengers are always well informed, the BRABUS overhead console with additional instruments for outside temperature, speed and time was incorporated into the headliner.
Of course, every buyer of a BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION can configure their supercar individually in every detail, which naturally also includes the color scheme of the bodywork and the interior.
The BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION is built in a limited edition of just 25 vehicles. The first ten supercars will be delivered before the year is out. By the end of 2022, a total of 25 vehicles will then be produced.
