The 11th edition of Passione Engadina ended up amid applause from participants and numerous visitors. The Julius Baer Rally, the St Moritz Challenge Cup at Samedan Airport and in the center of St. Moritz, as well as Eleganza in Movimento contest made the three-day Engadin event unique, along with the magnificent cars in this year’s parterre, including the Bugatti Type 35 and Bugatti Type 57 Atalante, the Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 and 8C Monza, the elegant Ferraris 250 GT SWB and Daytona, and the many beautiful Lancia Stratos.
Cars arrived at the Kulm Country Club under the beautiful St. Moritz sunshine while an ecstatic crowd greeted them. After the registration, the participants prepared for the weekend’s races, and ladies competed in the Chopard Ladies’ Cup, the winners of which, Charlotte Magaraggia and Elvira Mubarakshina, were awarded in the evening by Chopard CEO Karl-Friedrich Scheufele.
Passione Engadina 2022 … The splendid Italian classic cars raced 250 kilometers on beautiful mountain roads
The engaging Next Gen Speech by Julius Baer, during which three young entrepreneurs presented their companies, enriched the first day of Passione Engadina 2022. Yves Bonzon, CIO of Julius Baer, Thomas Schori, CEO of Tide Ocean Material, and Mate Rimac, founder of Rimac Automobili and CEO of the Bugatti Rimac Group, who also participated in the Julius Baer Rally in a 1935 Bugatti Type 57 Stelvio, also attended the speech. The three distinguished guests discussed business, sustainability, and the future of the automotive industry in front of the Passione Engadina audience.
During the Julius Baer Rally, the splendid Italian classic cars raced 250 kilometers on beautiful mountain roads and took on a series of regularity trials in unique places such as Tirano, where, for the occasion, the very central Viale Italia was closed to traffic. The rain did not stop the many fans who gathered on the sidewalks.

Arturo Merzario welcomed the cars as they arrived in St. Moritz. Stefano Valente and Charlotte Magaraggia in a 1925 Bugatti Type 39 Grand Prix won the rally followed by Marino and Manuela Pastore in a 1963 Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider and Reinhard and Emilia Eyring in a 1967 Ferrari 330 GTC.
The next day, participants gathered at the Engadin Airport in the morning for the St. Moritz Challenge Cup. Before this, the Bugatti Show took place: 15 modern and historic Bugattis all sped down the track together behind the pace car driven by Andy Wallace, the pilot who drove a Bugatti Chiron Supersport 300+ at over 490 km/h. The show attracted a large audience of car guys and photographers. After trials at the airport, the St. Moritz Challenge Cup moved to the center of St. Moritz along Via dal Bagn, which was completely closed to traffic. The crew of Filippo Sole and Francesca Sole Rettagliata triumphed aboard a 1938 Lancia Astura Stabilimenti Farina.

Eleganza in Movimento, Passione Engadina’s Concours d’Elegance, in which cars are judged for their beauty as they are in motion, awarded prizes to the most outstanding cars whithin the rich parterre of Passione Engadina 2022. The jury composed of Philip Rathgen, Stefano Pasini, Oliver Camelin, Luca Borgogno, and Lowie Vermeersch and chaired by Lorenzo Ramaciotti, awarded the “Colpo di Fulmine” prize to a stunning 1990 Ferrari F40.
Outstanding figures from the world of motor racing participated in this edition of Passione Engadina, including F1 champion Nico Rosberg, Simona de Silvestro, and Jerôme D’Ambrosio.
To celebrate this 11th edition of Passione Engadina, a dedicated bottle of Franciacorta Plozza was made with a special cuvèe selected by Paolo Basso, Best Sommelier of the World in 2013.
The Pavillon Bugatti, set up by Passione Engadina in collaboration with Bugatti, was also a great success, visited by 19,200 people free of charge in just over two weeks. Inside the Bugatti Pavilion were many rare Bugattis tracing the history of the brand from the Tricycle T1 to the Bolide.
Passione Engadina 2023 will be held in St. Moritz on August 25-27 and will host Lancia.
