The Autumn/Winter Collection 2012 by CALIDA

The appeal of the established and traditional for consumers points to a sign of the times. Old, customary values are trendy again and making a comeback. Many of these values, especially the more traditional ones, are being adopted by Swiss designers, given a stylish twist and some creative style, and turned into a modern concept. Needlework and silhouettes, tea towel patterns and St. Gallen embroidery – these elements of the past have become popular again, along with architecture, design and wood, which has been rediscovered as a modern building material. Living Traditions is Calida’s theme for the 2012 Autumn/Winter collection. A lot of tradition, culture and nature lie right at our doorstep. And now they are ready to be newly discovered and enjoyed in our Pure Nature and Rustic Chic themes.

The styles focus on individuality, diversity, reliability and function. Traditional elements from the past are carried into the present. Personal styling is in the spotlight, highlighted by many single items and a variety of fabrics. The trend is towards loungewear, with a love of detail. Sportswear and street styles are also popular and featured extensively in the stylish new bottoms.

Contrasts and combinations of natural fabrics, with a range of different textures and finishes, are a big theme for the autumn/winter. Mixtures of matt and gloss, transparent and opaque, heavy knit and silky drape create excitement and variety, but also offer proven durability even in the solids. Combinations to challenge the usual styling variations are offered as well. Lots of lace is another very important element in the selection. This seductive touch comes out in the daywear and the sleepwear, where exquisite silk and lace combine to create a very sensual, stylish ballerina theme.

The Colours

All rosé tones are trendy and featured in every segment. Together with shimmering fabrics or delicate lace, the sensuous lingerie lines will appeal to many. Pastels and powders have their place beside greens and reds. Cooler greens and blues emphasize the pure nature of water, mountains, wind and glaciers. The colours are often diluted, as if still cloaked in an autumn fog. Different berry tones are matched with a nut brown. But off-white as a neutral, lighter accent brings freshness and vibrancy, turning into a trendy outfit with mottled grey.

For the men, mottled grey is combined with green and marine. A rich red, bright violet, petrol or elegant amber are featured in big swaths, mixed with off-white or a trendy walnut brown for an interesting accent.

The Patterns

Minimalism, especially solids, or traditional elements set the framework for the patterns. Checks and textures offer a rustic feel, while floral prints and fine stripes add a dainty touch. Patterns, fabrics and finishes blend together to offer perfect individual styling for everyone.

For the men, solids play a big role along with stripes, in particular wide block stripes. But checks are also important, with a modern twist to transform an old country look.
